{"id":1345,"date":"2013-12-21T21:48:14","date_gmt":"2013-12-21T21:48:14","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chadstutzman.net\/?p=1345"},"modified":"2013-12-21T21:51:02","modified_gmt":"2013-12-21T21:51:02","slug":"three-things-great-leaders-do","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chadstutzman.com\/?p=1345","title":{"rendered":"Three Things Great Leaders Do"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chadstutzman.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/leadership.jpg\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1346\" alt=\"leadership\" src=\"http:\/\/chadstutzman.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/leadership.jpg\" width=\"460\" height=\"350\" srcset=\"https:\/\/chadstutzman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/leadership.jpg 460w, https:\/\/chadstutzman.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/12\/leadership-300x228.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 460px) 100vw, 460px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>For the past 15 years I have been focused on growing myself and others in faith, character and leadership.\u00a0 Those three areas of my life are guiding lights for how I approach life.\u00a0 I have made a lot of mistakes over those years, yet I keep coming back to those three things.<\/p>\n<p>As I reflect on leadership here are three things I believe we must be committed to in order to lead well.\u00a0 Whether you are a parent, spouse, employee, employer, student, teacher, athlete, coach, artist, musician, or just a friend, you are a leader.\u00a0 If you have influence with anyone else then you are a leader.<\/p>\n<p>Leading is not easy, because in order to lead you need to have influence.\u00a0 In order to have influence you need to have a vision of where you want to go or the way you want things to be.\u00a0 If you want to increase your influence and leadership in this next year then these are some things you will need to do:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Leadership means you are willing to get uncomfortable<\/strong> &#8211; In order to grow you have to get out of your comfortable surroundings and stretch yourself.\u00a0 When was the last time you did something that made you sweat?\u00a0 Where you felt you were out of your element and in new air.\u00a0 It is in those moments that we grow, stretch and discover new ground in our leadership.\u00a0 It&#8217;s where we can learn from mistakes and expand our perspective.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership also means you should be dissatisfied with where things are at<\/strong> &#8211; As a leader you need to be pushing for improvement, a better way, greater things.\u00a0 You should be dissatisfied about how the world is, how people are treated.\u00a0 Don&#8217;t get me wrong you also need to be content with what you have and be thankful for the many blessings you have in your life.\u00a0 But you also need a passion to see things better than they are today.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leadership is also about disruption<\/strong> &#8211; A leader should never be satisfied with the status quo.\u00a0 You don&#8217;t change things just to change them you change things to improve and get to a higher, better place.\u00a0 It starts with leading yourself and disrupting your habits and negative patterns.\u00a0 It&#8217;s saying no some good things in order to get the best things.\u00a0 It pushing for what is right and best for the world around you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>The best leaders do all of this with humility and persistence.<\/p>\n<p>So what are you doing to get uncomfortable?\u00a0 What are you dissatisfied about?\u00a0 What do you need to disrupt in your life or the lives of those you lead?\u00a0 That is how Jesus leads us.\u00a0 When he wants us to grow he brings discomfort, dissatisfaction and disruption.\u00a0 Jesus is the greatest leader ever, so let&#8217;s follow his example.\u00a0 If you don&#8217;t believe me just read about him in the Bible.\u00a0 Lead On.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For the past 15 years I have been focused on growing myself and others in faith, character and leadership.\u00a0 Those three areas of my life are guiding lights for how I approach life.\u00a0 I have made a lot of mistakes over those years, yet I keep coming back to those three things.
