This past Sunday our Lead Pastor Dwight Mason shared a great message about our identity as believers and followers of Jesus Christ.\u00a0 We are Also Known As Saints – You can watch the full message here – NewPointe Community Church<\/a><\/p>\n

When you confess with your mouth that Jesus in Lord and you believe in him and put your trust in him you are changed, and become new person spiritually.\u00a0 At that point God sees you as a Saint.\u00a0 In part of that message Dwight shared some very helpful info on the fruit of the Spirit.\u00a0 As we mature into our identity these things should become more evident in our lives.<\/p>\n

Be filled by the Spirit:<\/p>\n

Love <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 To serve a person for their good and intrinsic value, not for what the person brings you.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Fear: self-protection and abusing people.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Selfish affection. Rescuing someone but really rescuing self. Attracted not to a person, but to how this person\u2019s love makes you feel about yourself.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Joy <\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Delight in God and his salvation <\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Hopelessness, despair.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Happiness that come because of the gift, not the giver. Mood swings based on circumstances.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Peace <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Confidence and rest in the wisdom and sovereignty of God more than your own.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Anxiety and worry<\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Indifference, apathy, not caring about something. \u201cI don\u2019t care.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Patience <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Ability to take trouble (from others or life) without blowing up. To suffer joyfully.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Resentment toward God and others.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Cynicism. Self-righteousness. \u201cThis is too small to be bothered about.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Kindness <\/span><\/b><\/em><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Practical kindness with vulnerability out of deep inner security.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Envy. Unable to rejoice other\u2019s joy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Manipulative good deeds. \u201cRight hand knowing what left hand is doing.\u201d Self-congratulation and self-righteousness<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span><\/b><\/em>Goodness. (Integrity)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Honesty, transparency. Being the same in one situation as another.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Phoniness; hypocrisy.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Truth without love. \u201cGetting it off the chest\u201d for your sake.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span><\/b><\/em>Faithfulness.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Loyalty. Courage. To be principle-driven, committed, utterly reliable. True to one\u2019s word.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Opportunist. Fair-weather friend.<\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Love without truth. Being loyal when you should be willing to confront or challenge.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 <\/span><\/b><\/em>gentleness. (humility)<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Self-forgetfulness.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Superiority: self-absorbed <\/span><\/p>\n

Counterfeit<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Inferiority: self-absorbed, self-consciousness.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u2013 Self-control<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Definition<\/span><\/em> \u2013 Ability to choose the important thing over the urgent.<\/span><\/p>\n

Opposite<\/span><\/em> \u2013 A driven, impulsive, uncontrolled person.<\/span><\/p>\n
