{"id":684,"date":"2011-08-22T00:34:33","date_gmt":"2011-08-22T00:34:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/chadstutzman.net\/?p=684"},"modified":"2011-08-22T00:34:33","modified_gmt":"2011-08-22T00:34:33","slug":"a-leader-you-never-heard-of","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/chadstutzman.com\/?p=684","title":{"rendered":"A Leader You Never Heard Of"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/chadstutzman.net\/08\/2011\/a-leader-you-never-heard-of\/claires-art-07-02-1024-back-of-head-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-691\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-691\" title=\"claires-art-07-02-1024 back of head\" src=\"http:\/\/chadstutzman.net\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/claires-art-07-02-1024-back-of-head1-300x168.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"168\" \/><\/a><a href=\"http:\/\/chadstutzman.net\/08\/2011\/a-leader-you-never-heard-of\/claires-art-07-02-1024-back-of-head\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-688\"><br \/>\n<\/a>There are many famous leaders in the Bible such as Moses, David, Peter and Paul.\u00a0 Yet there are many others that are not as famous that were vital to the work of God happening.\u00a0 One such leader was Epaphroditus.\u00a0 Do you know his story?\u00a0 He played an important yet obscure role in the ministry of Paul and the Philippians.\u00a0 No books were written about Epaphroditus, he never wrote any books or made any speeches that we are aware of.\u00a0 What he did do was run from Philippi to Rome to join Paul who was in prison and minister to his needs.\u00a0 He also carried Paul&#8217;s letter to the Philippians back home with him.\u00a0 This is how Paul describes him in Chapter 2 verses 25-30:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>A People Lover &#8211; Paul calls him a minister.\u00a0 He had compassion for the people of Philippi and cared about them deeply.\u00a0 He also cared about Paul and was willing to serve him in whatever way he could.<\/li>\n<li>A Risk Taker &#8211; Paul calls him a fellow soldier.\u00a0 He risks his own life and safety in order to serve alongside Paul.\u00a0 He refused to simply look out for himself and play it safe.<\/li>\n<li>A Tireless Worker &#8211; Paul calls him a fellow worker.\u00a0 Paul mentions an illness he suffered from and that it was tied to his hard work.\u00a0 Even though he was suffering and ill, he continued to serve as best he could.<\/li>\n<li>A Servant Leader &#8211; Paul calls him a messenger.\u00a0 Paul encourages the church to welcome him like a hero.\u00a0 Epaphroditus both led and served as he became a spokesman for the church.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>There are many people that work everyday in obscure ways that play a big part in the story God is writing.\u00a0 Leadership is not about position but influence with what we have been given.\u00a0 We are all called to love people, take risks for God, work hard and serve others.\u00a0 If we can do that consistently over time, the impact for God&#8217;s Kingdom can be great.\u00a0 Epaphroditus humbled himself to serve Paul.\u00a0 Paul in turn recognizes the contribution he made to his ministry.\u00a0 Our mindset as followers of Christ should be to humble ourselves and serve the people around us.\u00a0 It may go unnoticed by people, but it will not go unnoticed by God.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There are many famous leaders in the Bible such as Moses, David, Peter and Paul.\u00a0 Yet there are many others that are not as famous that were vital to the work of God happening.\u00a0 One such leader was Epaphroditus.\u00a0 Do you know his story?\u00a0 He played an important yet obscure role in the ministry of &hellip;
